The wait is finally over - Hollow Knight: Silksong is launching on September 4, 2025, Team Cherry has announced. The long-awaited sequel to 2017’s indie classic will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store. It will also be included with Xbox Game Pass on day one.
For years, Silksong has been one of the most anticipated games in the indie space, with fans clinging to every update, trailer, and even rumor about its progress. Originally revealed back in 2019, the follow-up to Hollow Knight has become almost mythical in status, with players joking about it being “the Half-Life 3 of indie games.” Now, after years of silence and speculation, Hornet’s new adventure finally has a confirmed release date.
About Hollow Knight: Silksong
In Silksong, players step into the role of Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, as she embarks on a deadly pilgrimage through a brand-new kingdom ruled by silk and song. Captured and brought to unfamiliar lands, Hornet must battle fierce foes, unravel mysteries, and ascend to the citadel at the kingdom’s peak.
The sequel expands on everything that made Hollow Knight beloved:
- A vast new kingdom to explore, from coral forests and mossy grottos to gilded cities and misted moors.
- Acrobatic, fast-paced combat with an arsenal of new moves and tools.
- Over 150 new enemies to challenge, including beasts, assassins, kings, and knights.
- Shocking quests, hidden treasures, and ancient secrets to uncover.
- A haunting new orchestral score from returning composer Christopher Larkin.
- A Silk Soul mode that remixes the game into an even greater challenge once completed.
After nearly six years since its reveal and countless calls for updates, the countdown is officially on. Hollow Knight: Silksong launches worldwide on September 4, 2025.
