Hollow Knight: Silksong developers have shared the first confirmed details about upcoming DLC and expansions. Here is everything Team Cherry revealed about the game’s future content plans.

Hollow Knight: Silksong launched on 4 September 2025, but Team Cherry hasn’t finished with the game yet. In a recent interview with Bloomberg, the studio’s founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen opened up about the future of the game for the first time.

The news they shared offers the first details on what players can expect from post-launch updates and expansions to Silksong, and suggests the game might follow the original Hollow Knight’s evolution in some ways. The major detail to come out of the interview is that Silksong’s larger scale will impact the developers’ approach to future content.

The developers don’t want to overwhelm new players or make the world of Pharloom feel bloated, so they’ll be focused on making each expansion cohesive and natural. It’s a similar approach to the first Hollow Knight, but taking into account the different challenges of updating a much larger sequel.

Post-launch updates released for Silksong so far

Updates to Silksong since launch have continued to focus on stability, polish, and general performance. As with the first year of patches for Hollow Knight, these updates come to refine the base game experience before the team turns its focus to adding major new drops of content.

Recent patches have addressed:

  • Animation bugs, traversal glitches, and softlock prevention
  • Expanded controller support, rumble, and input latency
  • Lighting, dithering, and other visual effects tweaks
  • Continued language updates, including to Simplified Chinese
  • Framerate stability, hit detection, and prevention of edge-case crashes

Ensuring the game's foundation is as solid as possible before a large influx of new content, as was the case with the first game.

Silksong DLC plans and what Team Cherry has shared

No official announcement or window for DLC has been made, but this interview is the most detailed look at it yet. Team Cherry confirmed that DLC is in development, and some of the previously announced features will be returning in the next major updates.

  • New content is in development post-launch
  • Steel Assassin Sharpe will be in an expansion
  • The Village of Lions and other "postponed" content is in the works
  • New features beyond those already teased
  • Support may include "little updates" and full-on expansions in the scale of Godmaster
  • Updates and expansions will be woven into the game world naturally

Silksong is already known to be a much larger game than the base game, and these early looks at post-launch support indicate the ambition is just as strong on that front.
