In Hollow Knight: Silksong, the newest Souls-like action-adventure from Team Cherry, some areas will require more than a simple task to be able to leave them, and one of those areas, or more accurately, the first such area, is Deep Docks.
Once you drop inside the area with the huge robotic creature that stares at you and a lot of air vortexes, going out will be impossible if you don't know what to do to make it possible, that is.
If you've found yourself in this predicament and don't know how to leave this area and trigger the boss fight, fear not; we've also been there, and we're willing to share with you the solution to this very problem.
How to leave Deep Docks area in Hollow Knight: Silksong
If you're circling around Deep Docks thinking it is impossible to leave it, the solution to your problem lies in a side quest given by the NPC called Seamstress—she is located inside the huge area, at the top of balloon-like houses. Enter the middle house once the prompt appears and talk to her.
Once you do that, she will give you a side quest called Flexile Spines in which you'll be tasked with finding 25 of those spines, and Seamstress will knit a new cloak for you, which will grant you the ability to glide through the air. Now, the question is, where to find those spines.
Seamstress will hint to you that there are many enemies holding those spines, and they are hanging right beneath her shop. The enemies you'll want to look for are the flying bugs with spikes on their bodies. They are not aggressive and won't attack you. To defeat them, you'll have to jump and hit them, and once you do that, they will release spikes in the direction where the spikes are aiming at a given moment.
However, killing those spike bugs won't give you a single Flexile Spine. To gather them, you'll have to hit the bug, wait for it to release the spikes, and then hit the spike. Once you hit the spike, it will become the Flexile Spine, and you'll be able to pick it up. Repeat the process 25 times, gather the spikes, and return to Seamstress.
Once the task is done, she will knit Drifter's Cloak to you, and by holding the jump button, you'll be able to glide through the air and ride the air vortexes as well.
Now just follow the left path, jumping over the lava stones, and you'll reach the area where the mechanical monstrosity previously watched you. It will now become the boss which you'll have to fight.
