According to many of the Assassin's Creed fans, the official sixth instalment in the series, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, stands out as perhaps one of the best of all, or at least it is the fans' favourite. The depiction of the pirate-infested West Indies was nothing short of spectacular, at least by the standards of that time (2013).
There are endless discussions all over social media regarding the topic of the best Assassin's Creed title, and most of the fans go for Black Flag, while the more traditional enthusiasts claim that Assassin's Creed 2 is the best. The tastes differ, of course, but the fact remains, those two titles were definitely the fans' favourites, and with such a reputation, it would be a shame not to breathe additional life into them, given the opportunity.
Some time ago, the rumours started circulating that Ubisoft is preparing a full remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag using their proven Anvil engine, but those rumours were never officially confirmed by Ubisoft.
However, during a recent signature event, the voice actor who lent his voice to the game's protagonist Edward Kenway, Matt Ryan, stirred the still water after giving a brief comment to one of the fans about the need to play the game all over again.
Ryan asked the fan if he had already finished the game and hinted that he might need to play through it again, though he added that he couldn’t say anything more on the matter.
You can see the short video posted on X above and perhaps draw your own conclusion about it. We would definitely love to see the Black Flag remake sooner rather than later. Some rumours hint it might happen by the end of this year, but given the problems Ubisoft is facing right now, nothing is certain.
