A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 leak reveals a massive 20v20 multiplayer mode called Skirmish, featuring wingsuits, payloads, and dynamic objective-based gameplay.

A new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 leak has uncovered an unannounced multiplayer mode, Skirmish. The new game mode is said to be large in scale, with maps that support 20v20 battles and an objective-based approach to multiplayer.

Also, Wingsuits will be used in this new 20v20 Skirmish mode. Interestingly, it was Activision itself who leaked the game mode, with loading screen assets being embedded within the Xbox version of Call of Duty HQ.

Details of the Skirmish Mode

Images of Skirmish reveal that gameplay in the mode involves maps that focus on destroying payloads and capturing zones. The other aim appears to be the transmission of intelligence from one area to another.

A highlight of Skirmish gameplay is the inclusion of wingsuit traversal as a core mechanic, indicating potential for verticality and open-space travel in maps. Activision have not yet responded to the leak and currently, there is no official confirmation that Skirmish will be included in Black Ops 7.

The screenshot assets suggest that this could be an internal playtest game mode with loading screens linking back to a “closed internal playtest.”

Potential Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Closed Internal Playtest

Aside from the Skirmish assets, loading screens for the game’s campaign and multiplayer have also been discovered as part of the same leak. They further reveal that a Closed Internal Playtest could be taking place or is scheduled for the near future.

Dates are not directly visible, however, the assets make a clear mention of “Friday-Sunday.” So it can be said that there is a high chance that the playtest is expected to take place between June 27-29.

It is currently not clear if content tested in this playtest will make it into the live game at launch. However, it is not the first time Activision has covertly tested Black Ops 7, and as of yet they have not sent any takedown notices for the leaks. We are updating this story as soon as we get more information.

Will the Skirmish Mode Be in the Final Game?

Leaks are always speculative, and there is no definitive way to know if Skirmish will be in the final version of the game. Modes that are present in test builds can be added or removed at Activision’s discretion.

If the Skirmish mode is real, there is always a chance that core mechanics and objectives will be changed or polished during testing. The scale of the mode would also mark a major shift in the format of traditional Call of Duty multiplayer.

Fans will have to wait for the next official showcase or developer blog post for confirmation.
