Apex Legends new season is titled Overclocked and promises a slew of mechanical additions, Legend redesigns, as well as early teases at what’s to come with Ranked soon.
Building off of Respawn’s previous seasons of refinement while layering on new gameplay systems. Overclocked places an emphasis on pacing and player decisions. Rather than padding the game with more mechanics, Respawn says each addition within the new season affects player choices during fights, recovering, and coordinating with your team.
These changes aim to encourage players to play aggressively without sacrificing tactical decision-making. This season also teases at future seasons to come, as developers noted that Ranked will be undergoing a large rework by Season 32.
New Legend and Core Features
Axle is a fast mobility Legend that excels at rotating around the map and diving players. Her playstyle centers around speed and disruption. Deathbox Respawns give your team the ability to respawn directly from the Deathbox without picking up the banner.
Respawning this way takes longer, however, making your team vulnerable while being revived. Also, it makes noise so your enemies will know you’re attempting a Deathbox respawn.
Chain Healing allows players to queue up healing items and easily kite between heals. This effectively decreases downtime between individual heals and makes living through big extended fights a little more consistent.
Legend Updates and What’s Next
Vantage is getting mobility and ultimate buffs to help her play more flexibly in fights. Conduit is being adjusted to have more bite as a support Legend. Overall, Overclocked aims to make impactful changes to some of Apex Legends’ systems.
It also sets up some of the foundation for bigger updates to come later on, especially in the Ranked area.
