Apex Legends players are being treated to a crossover event with Street Fighter 6. Respawn’s battle royale title will allow players to enjoy some Capcom fighting action in-game, while a new trailer revealed plenty of what to expect.
Respawn’s game will see select areas of Olympus and respawning Wildcard gameplay mode undergo visual changes themed around Street Fighter.
When visiting Olympus, players will notice several nods to iconic locales from Street Fighter games, including Luke’s Gym, arcade cabinets, fighting mats, anime-style statues, and even a massive Blanka-CHAN statue.
Wildcard Mode
The new Wildcard gameplay mode also grants players access to select Street Fighter characters including Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, and Akuma via the Fighter Form ability. Each Legend can choose their fighter of choice at the start of a match and utilize unique skills during combat.
Players gain enhanced melee capabilities, such as quicker strikes, as well as the ability to block attacks. Fighter Forms also open up a range of movement options including double jumps and teleport dashes.
Street Fighter 6 moves will also come into play during combat. When you go down in battle, your team has a limited time to revive you. But, during the Showdown phase, any downed or reviving players can get back into the fight for one final battle royale showdown. During Showdown, everyone is vulnerable until there’s only one team standing.
Weapons and Cosmetics
Respawn revealed eight characters from Street Fighter are receiving crossover skins:
- Sparrow as Ryu
- Alter as Chun-Li
- Bangalore as Elena
- Mirage as Luke
- Gibraltar as Akuma
- Wattson as Cammy
- Caustic as Blanka
- Pathfinder as Dhalsim
Respawn’s crossover event also introduces skins for the following weapons:
- R-99
- EVA-8
- Flatline
- Volt
- G7 Scout
- Mozambique
- Sentinel
- Peacekeeper
Players will be able to unlock a variety of cosmetics during the event, such as Skydive Emotes, Holosprays, Stickers, Badges, Trackers, and Frames. A new Mythic melee called Hadoken will be available, while Lifeline will receive a skin with Li-Fen.
Apex Legends x Street Fighter launches on September 22 at 10:00 AM PT.
