As in any other Souls-like title out there, the bosses pose the biggest threat in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers too, and even though the early bosses are really nothing special, if you're not familiar with the game's mechanics, beating the first real boss might pose a slight challenge.
The first boss in this latest Souls-like action RPG from 505 Games will be Master Raider - Man-eating Dhutanga, the humanoid boss with a super predictable and ultra-telegraphed moveset that also packs a punch, and if you're not careful, two or three hits will send you among the fallen warriors.
If you're having trouble beating Master Raider - Man-eating Dhutanga, here are some tips and tricks, accompanied by our successful attempt (we failed a couple of times), clipped on the video you can watch below.
How to beat the Master Raider - Man-eating Dhutanga boss
When it comes to beating Master Raider - Man-eating Dhutanga, the name of the game is patience and backshots; seriously, charged attacks in the boss's backside will give you a huge advantage against him.
The boss will use many combos, and each hit is devastating but also very telegraphed, meaning you can easily anticipate where the attack will land and how to easily dodge it. The attack you want the boss to pull, and the one that will give you the opportunity to severely punish him, is a plunging attack that can easily be dodged forward, giving you the upper hand and placing you where you want to be: behind the boss's back.
Once Dhutanga jumps towards you, dodge forward and immediately use a charged heavy attack (hold R2), hitting him in the back. This attack will stagger him and open him for the devastating attack (R1). Once you pull this, keep attacking the boss until he recovers, then back out to a safe distance.
After you remove half of his health, he will transit to the second phase, where his weapon will be set on fire. Those hit even harder, but the attack patterns are almost the same, which means using the same strategy is what you need to do to win the fight.
Watch the video above to see how we managed to beat Dhutanga. You'll see that we made a lot of mistakes, and the fight was far from flawless, but at the end, we prevailed, while Dhutanga became just a faint memory in our long adventure through Ancient China.
