The longswords in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers can use block and parry, and they can be unlocked through the Impetus Repository tree. Here is how to do it.

Block and parry are very usual mechanics in almost all hack-and-slash combat-based games, and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the latest action RPG Souls-like from 505 Games, isn't an exception.

However, once you start playing this game, regardless of your weapon choice, you won't find a command dedicated to this action, and you would probably think that it is a shame that one more Souls-like will go without your beloved Sekiro-infused mechanic.

Well, if you think Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is without the parry mechanic, you cannot be more wrong; the only issue is that this mechanic requires a bit of work to make it available. If you want to know how to do that, we have a guide for you.

How to unable block and parry mechanics on longswords

By default, each longsword will have L1 and L2 commands (PlayStation controller) dedicated to the weapon skills and the discipline, and once you equip this weapon, those actions will be set to the default longsword actions. However, if you want Wuchang to become Sekiro and parry the enemy attacks effortlessly, you'll have to first unlock certain abilities.

The first thing you must do is to worship at one of the shrines and access the Impetus Repository to be able to unlock new abilities. The block and parry ability is called Sword Counter and is located on the abilities wheel under the longsword section—those abilities are located at seven o'clock on the wheel. To find it, just follow the ability tree until it starts branching; the Sword Counter ability is located on the left side (see the image below for reference).

You'll have to be between level 10 and 15 to be able to unlock this skill; if you want, you can even respec your skills—it doesn't cost any special items or resources. Once you unlock this skill, you'll be able to add it to your longsword; just choose the discipline option at the shrine, choose your desired longsword, and add the new ability to the weapon.

If you want, you can unlock a couple of abilities that surround the Sword Counter ability; those will give you the ability to counterattackafter a successful parry and will stagger enemies once you hit the counter successfully.
