Madness is an innovative mechanic in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers that lets you accumulate madness as you keep dying, and as a reward, you're becoming stronger but also more vulnerable. Here's how to reset madness during the late-game period.

Among many unique features in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which are not-so-usual for the other Souls-like titles, the madness mechanic somehow stands out as probably the most unique one because of its pros and cons that affect the entire gameplay of this 505 Games title.

Madness is an affliction you'll keep accumulating as you keep dying in the game, and once it reaches its maximum, in the place of your death, instead of the usual obtainable lost in-game currency (Red Mercury in this game), the inner demon will appear, and you'll have to fight it if you want to reclaim the lost Red Mercury.

However, if you don't want to be bothered by this additional trouble, you can always reset the madness status. At the beginning of the game, it is all explained, and the place where this can be done is shown as a tutorial, but as the game progresses (spoiler warning), this place changes as part of the story. Now, if you want to know how and where to reset the madness during the late-game period, we have a guide for you.

How to reset madness during the late-game period

To reset the madness status early in the game, you'll need one of several items specialised for this, like the divine gifts. All those items can be either found or bought in one of the shops. Once you have those items, simply go to the upper level of Shu Sanctum and pray in front of the huge statue.

However, once Warship's Rise falls into ruins, the previous madness-resetting place will be in flames, so one could think it will be impossible to reset madness in the game during this period, and that one couldn't be more wrong.

The new shrine for resetting madness will still be in Worship's Rise, only this time a bit further from Shu Sanctum. To reach it, just exit through the second level and cross the red plan bridge (the way you first arrived in Shu Sanctum on fire), and then go to the right.

Follow the right path all the way to the top, passing some blight-inducing enemies, a huge dude with the plank weapon, and finally the soldier with the shield and spear. Once you pass all of them (kill or avoid, your choice), you'll come to the open area with a huge stone in the middle and two statues facing away from the stone.

The first statue you'll come across will let you interact with it, and here you'll be able to reset the madness status, like you were before, once Shu Sanctum was intact.
