Rumoured Games for Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026
While some notable games have been confirmed for Gamescom‘s Opening Night Live next month, others could also appear.
Here’s every rumoured game we think could show up at Gamescom Opening Night Live based on rumours, leaks, past games that have been announced at Gamescom and other titles on display at Gamescom.
Alien Isolation 2
Alien Isolation 2 was revealed earlier this year and we know its prologue will playable at Gamescom on the show floor. Its presence could mean another gameplay reveal or trailer during Opening Night Live itself.
Fable
Though delayed until 20 27, Fable could appear at Gamescom as a way for Playground Games and Xbox to show off more of their upcoming RPG. The delay may have granted the devs more time to work on the game, and showing off new gameplay could remind players why they’ll want to play it when it launches.
Rumoured Xbox Franchise Revival
Xbox is rumoured to have a big surprise for Opening Night Live next month that involves an existing Xbox franchise. The project is reportedly being developed by third-party studios, so it likely wouldn’t be a new Halo or Forza game. Series like Banjo-Kazooie have reportedly been ruled out too.
Worms Galactic Tactics
A recent leak included the supposed title Worms Galactic Tactics, a new game in the Worms franchise. While we don’t know much about it, it’s rumored to be a strategy-focused game in the vein of XCOM. Worms Galactic Tactics could easily be announced at Gamescom.
Hogwarts Legacy 2
Hogwarts Legacy 2 is known to be in development and has even reportedly been made a priority for WB Games. Should Hogwarts Legacy 2 debut at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live? If it launches later this year or in 2024, we’d love to see it. News that the game is a current priority indicates that a sequel could be coming soon.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
Yet another Tomb Raider title could appear at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live. Rumored to release in February, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis could show off new details before its release. Catalyst, another rumored entry in the franchise, has been pushed back to 2028, so a trailer or gameplay demo would fit well here.
Other Likely Candidates and Possible World Premieres
Gamescom Opening Night Live has also become a show known for saving some announcements entirely under wraps until it kicks off. So, expect some possible world premieres and surprise reveals that aren't currently on the rumour mill.
Some other potential candidates include:
- Resident Evil 9 DLC
- Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release date
- Castlevania: Belmont's Curse
- Kena: Scars of Kosmora
- Star Wars Jedi 3
- Jurassic Park Survival
- Fallout 3 Remake
- ARC Raiders
- Modern Warfare 4
- Control Resonant
- Guild Wars 3
- 1666 Amsterdam
- SAW Genesis
- 007 First Light
- ILL
As the showcase is expected to last around two hours, there should be plenty of room for other trailers and announcements outside of the ones we already know or have heard about. Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 takes place on August 25th, and all of the confirmed games, potential surprises, and unannounced world premieres will be fighting for your attention.
