If you start playing Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, you can see that the game can be really dark. In this guide, we will show you how to illuminate the dark places in the game easily.

The newest addition to the ever-growing Souls-like family, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, is a very challenging game, as we might have expected. This Souls-like from 505 Games will show its huge potential as soon as you meet your first enemies and will show you that this would probably be one more title where the frustration over difficulty will go through the roof.

As the game is set in Ancient China, a very rich environment will mean a lot of dark places like caves and tunnels, and if you use HDR, even the shaded locations will be very dark, and you'll see almost nothing in such places.

If seeing in the dark in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is troubling you, we have a guide that will show you how to illuminate all dark places to see what every nook and cranny is hiding in this game.

How to illuminate dark places in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

The item you need for illuminating your surroundings is called Bamboo Lantern, and you'll get it for free from the NPC just outside the starting area. However, there's a huge possibility that you'll overlook this or even miss talking with the NPC. If you fail to exhaust all the conversations with him, you'll miss getting this item.

The NPC in question will be on your path as soon as you leave the first shrine, but if you miss getting the lantern from him, you can always buy it from many merchants you deal with during your journey.

Once you have the lantern in your possession, open the equipment menu and navigate to the items section at the bottom of the screen. Choose any unused slot and place the bamboo lantern inside it. Now, while playing, press the up or down arrow on your D-pad to select the lantern, and then press the X button (on a PlayStation controller) to activate it.

Once the lantern is on, it will illuminate your surroundings very well. Refer to the image above to identify the difference between the normal and illuminated spaces.
