Climbing is one of the mechanics in Dune: Awakening that isn't explained, unlike almost everything else that has its own tutorial. Here is how to climb in this game.

Dune: Awakening, the latest MMO survival from Funcom, is a game played in third-person perspective, and being this kind of game, traversal mechanics simply must have some kind of climbing involved.

One of the most important gauges you must keep an eye on during gameplay is your stamina gauge, and almost all the actions, including climbing, will use stamina. However, the game never did explain anything regarding climbing, and this is something you'll have to figure out on your own.

If you don't know how to reach elevated places in Dune: Awakening, we have a guide that will explain everything related to this very topic. So without further ado, let's begin.

How to climb in Dune: Awakening

Perhaps this seems like something too obvious, but climbing mechanics in Dune: Awakening can be very confusing if you don't know what to press to be able to climb. Dune: Awakening is one of those games with climbing mechanics reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda, where you can climb anything in the world, as long as your stamina bar holds up. Once it is depleted, you'll fall.

Managing the stamina bar is very important in this game. Stamina is directly connected with the game's main mechanic, hydration. The more you're hydrated, the more stamina you have, and sometimes, to reach some very high places, you'll need a lot of stamina.

Before you start climbing, make sure to drink enough water to double the stamina bar; this will be achieved if you fill up more than two hydration bars. Now, when all the preparations are done, it is time to start climbing, but no matter what you try, your character won't stick to the rocks and walls.

This is because you're not pressing the right commands. To start climbing, you must press the jump command (A on the Xbox controller and the space bar on the keyboard) twice quickly. Once you double-click this command, your character will grab any surface and start climbing.

One more thing about climbing you probably didn't know is that you can use this command to descend high places as well. No matter how high your character is placed, just jump off any cliff and aim for a vertical rock on your way down. Once close to a rock, just double-click the jump button, and your character will start holding onto it. If you're still too high, just release the grip and use the same command when you reach a safe distance.
