Many Souls-like titles are heavily dependent on different builds, and it seems the latest one from 505 Games, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, even more so, where if you know how to put everything together in your skill tree and your weapons, you can obliterate bosses, quite literally.
Once you reach endgame, just before entering the final region, you'll meet a two-phase boss, Dragon Emperor. This boss, especially its second phase, is enormously hard—you can fall in just a couple of hits, seriously. This stands for the final boss as well, who, luckily, has only one phase but is very hard to beat, nonetheless.
However, if you set up the specific magic build and respec all your skills (don't worry, it's free), you can kill both of those bosses in a matter of seconds. If you're struggling with those bosses and want to know how to defeat them without breaking a sweat, we have a solution for you.
How to easily beat endgame bosses using a simple magic build
Keep in mind that you should follow this guide to the letter and set the build exactly as shown here; if you miss only one of the recommendations, the build won't work. It isn't any kind of boss cheese or anything of the sort that should be patched; it is simply different game abilities put together with the best possible outcome.
The first thing you need to do is to reset all your skills. You can do that by pressing the square button (PlayStation controller) once on the starting point inside Impetus Repository. Once you reset everything, go to the left skill tree and start putting your essence points there.
Given that it's an endgame stage, you're probably around level 100-120, and that's enough to make yourself a boss-killing machine. Unlock almost everything inside the left skill branch, focusing especially on the magic points—your magic stats should be over 60 for this build to work properly, and, of course, you must unlock and equip the magic tempering in this skill tree.
Once you unlock all the magic points, go to the right skill branch (short sword) and unlock everything there, except, maybe, feathering stats because you don't need those for this build to work. If you have some points to spare, and if you're above level 100, you'll most certainly have some. Choose a different branch and put the points into health or strength stats.
Once you set everything up here, it is time to focus on the weapon. For this build to properly work, you'll have to pick the Astral Blade short sword because it scales perfectly with any magic build and adds additional damage output to your stats. Since it is endgame, you'll probably have upgrade materials to make your weapon at least plus eight (basically, the higher the weapon level, the better the damage output, simple as that).
Now for the spell. Choose the Lotus Soulflame spell, which uses five stacks of Skyborn Might, and to evade any confusion, choose this one only. After the spell is chosen, it is time to add the benediction to the weapon; this part is very important.
For the Oath, choose Wei - Area Damage (this is the most important one; the others are just additional buffs); the Memory should be Sheng - Lasting Alacrity; and the Wisdom should be Wei - Skyborn Magic.
The next step is setting up the tempering. As you've already unlocked the magic tempering, set it inside the main slot, and in one of the slots, you must set Shadow Stone Needle - Magic. This one is obtained after defeating the Inner Demon inside the snowy region of Cloudspire. Without this tempering magic buff, this build simply wouldn't work properly.
All that is left now is to set the Jade Pendants, which are optional but will give additional damage. The best choice is to put the Sun Pendant inside one of the slots because this pendant increases the potency of spells. The other pendants you can choose on your own.
To summarise. Here is the complete setup for the boss-killing magic build:
- Magic stats above 60
- Astral Blade one-handed sword (+8 or more if possible)
- Lotus Soulflame spell
- Wei - Area Damage benediction added to Astral Blade
- Magic tempering with Shadow Stone Needle - Magic added to one of the slots
- Sun Pendant (optional)
Once everything is set, wait where it is safe; your build will automatically generate Skyborn Might, and once it is full, enter the boss arena. Wait for the boss to approach, and once it is safe (do not worry, your casting cannot be interrupted), cast the spell. Once the projectiles explode, and if the boss finds himself inside all the explosions, he will be one-shotted, simple as that.
Keep in mind that this magic build works better on the beast enemies; humanoids are not so weak to the magic, and since the last two bosses are the huge beasts, they will be obliterated with this build.
