New console footage of The Blood of Dawnwalker has been released online, showing how Rebel Wolves’ upcoming dark fantasy RPG looks on next-gen consoles. The new footage apparently also reveals details regarding Quality and Balanced graphics modes for when the game releases.
On PS5 and Xbox Series X, Dynamic 4K resolution at 30 FPS is reportedly the target when running the game in Quality mode. Balanced mode then targets 40 FPS at Dynamic 4K resolution.
Strangely enough, those same frame-rate targets are said to be available on PS5 Pro as well. Checking out the footage, it looks like Quality mode targets Dynamic 4K resolution at 30 FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro.
That means visuals and resolution take priority over frame rate, which makes sense for such a large-scale RPG brimming with dense environments and volumetric effects.
Should players want something smoother, Balanced mode reportedly targets 40 FPS at Dynamic 4K resolution. Frame-rate targets are said to be identical between PS5, Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro. Delivering a smooth 40 FPS will certainly provide a much smoother image than 30 FPS, all while keeping visuals at a higher fidelity than a typical 60 FPS performance mode would allow.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from these details is that PS5 Pro is apparently targeting both the 30 FPS and 40 FPS modes as well. No other consoles are mentioned, but from the information given we don’t know if the PS5 Pro will receive any upgrades over the standard models.
Dynamic resolution ranges, image reconstruction quality, ray tracing detail, texture quality, and more could all play a factor in what sets the Pro version apart. At the moment, we only know for certain the listed frame-rate and resolution targets. Hopefully more information comes to light about the PS5 Pro version soon.
