You won't find a lot of content in The Outer Worlds 2 that is unexplained. In general, for everything you stumble upon, the game will bombard you with walls of text explaining every mechanic in the smallest detail; however, once you come across the rift anomaly for the first time, the game will stay silent.
If you try to approach it, which is the first instinct of every curious individual, you'll immediately meet your Creator, and still the game won't tell you a thing about it.
One of your companions might occasionally warn you to avoid those rifts if you value your life, but that's going to be as much warning as you'll get, and there's actually a perfect explanation for why that is the case. To find out about the rifts and everything related to them, consult our guide.
Everything you need to know about rift anomalies in The Outer Worlds 2
We must inform you right away that this guide will contain some minor story spoilers, so if you don't want to ruin some surprises, stop reading this. You can consider yourself warned.
Rift anomalies are late-game content, and the answer for them won't be available until you finally catch up to a certain person you're chasing and reach the planet called Praetor. On Praetor, you'll be prompted to finish the main quest called An Instrument To Unfold Space and Time, and once the quest is done, you'll obtain an item called Rift Modulator.
With this item in possession, once you get close to a rift anomaly, you'll have an option to interact with it. The rift modulator will temporarily close the rift and give you the possibility either to use the newly formed reality to reach some previously unreachable places, or the new reality will give you access to special items that can be found only inside anomalies.
As we promised, we tried to keep this guide as spoiler-free as possible, but still, some spoilers are unavoidable. In any case, if you wanted to know, this is how you'll be able to deal with rift anomalies. The best advice is if you find any of them and you're still early in the game, keep your distance.
