Overwatch 2 forums are filled to the brim with bug reports, issues regarding the progress that didn't carry over or straight up being unable to play because their phone service is not to Blizzard's liking.
Among the sea of such reports, there are a few where players are seeing vertical black bars on the side of their screen when using ultrawide monitors despite the original Overwatch not having such issues.
Thankfully, this one is easy to resolve and you don't even need to restart the game.
Simply go to Video Settings where you would normally choose your resolution. A few rows below, you will see the Aspect Ratio option.
For some weird reason, Overwatch 2 sometimes refuses to use the computer's default settings and reverts to 16:9 aspect ratio. Just change it to 21:9 and click Apply to switch it.
If the game is showing the aspect ratio is set to 21:9 but you still see the black bars, change it to another aspect ratio, apply and then switch back to 21:9 and click apply once again.
For the time being, these are the only workarounds but Blizzard will likely fix these problems once they are done dealing with problems around unlocks and playability.
