Looking fancy is always one of the priorities in MMOs so here is how to get started with Elder Scrolls Online.

Elder Scrolls Online is a bit confusing with its menus for some reason, which is why people will initially get perplexed with its iteration of a transmog system.

For starters, you can't directly change the appearance of an item. Instead, you have to use an Outfit within which you can choose the appearance of individual armour and weapon pieces.

You can choose the outfit slot by opening the Collections Menu, which can be in the middle of the toolbar when you open any menu. Alternatively, you can use the designated shortcut to open it. On PC, the default is "U".

When you open Collections, there will be a line of icons to the right. Click on the one that looks like a robe and at that point, there will be an outfit selection menu to the left. You can choose the outfit slot from the dropdown menu there.

The outfit will not be customised at first. To do that, you need to go to the Outfitting Station at any major city, you can see what its icon looks like on the map in the image below.

When you get there, just interact with the station and you will get an intuitive menu. Simply choose the armour and weapon pieces that you like, apply them over your existing ones and finally choose "Apply Changes".

Keep in mind that each altered piece will cost gold and even dyes will put a dent in your account.

You can unlock additional styles by simply creating characters of other races so you can have more options from the get-go. Other styles can be unlocked through microtransactions, events and adventuring but the starting sets look pretty good themselves, especially when you apply dyes to them.
