Diablo IV, the latest action RPG from Blizzard Entertainment, has a very vast map with a lot of activities to participate in, along with an enormous number of enemies scattered all over the map.
If you want to avoid these sometimes very tedious encounters all over again, the best solution is to use integrated fast travel mechanics that can bring you to any piece of map in a matter of seconds.
However, Diablo IV doesn't bother to explain to you every now and then how some mechanics work inside the game; those you are supposed to figure out on your own, it seems. So, if you don't know how to use the fast travel system in Diablo IV, we've composed a guide for you.
How to use fast travel in Diablo IV
As you discover the new areas in Diablo IV, the map will unfog, and you will be able to see the activities in that specific place. Larger settlements and towns will usually work as save zones where you will be able to find quest givers and all sorts of merchants to trade with.
Each bigger settlement will have a so-called waypoint, which you will need to activate manually in order to be able to use as a fast travel point. Once a waypoint is unlocked in a certain area, you will be able to fast travel to that waypoint whenever you want by opening a portal, which will teleport you from your current position to the waypoint.
The good side of this fast travel system is that you can always return to the place from which you opened the portal. For example, if your inventory fills up and you've found an important piece of equipment, simply fast travel to a place where there is a merchant nearby, sell off items from your inventory, and return to collect the loot. The portal will close once you leave the city.
