Diablo 4 was a success; we all know that; but even people in Microsoft and Activision Blizzard probably didn't believe that this game would earn them this much money.
Even though we didn't get the official report from Microsoft about this game's earnings over the last year since Diablo 4 is out, keen eyes on the internet caught this information on the LinkedIn profile of senior product manager Harrison Froeschke (the profile that was deactivated not long after the information leaked).
In the job description section of his LinkedIn profile, Froeschke wrote: “executed every step of game sales since game pre-order to the first expansion by configuring and collaborating with other teams, resulting in over $1B total lifetime revenue.”
Apart from this, he also added that the game made more than $150 million through microtransactions and that this number is growing every day. If we take into account that the DLC Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred will launch in October, then those numbers will go even higher, which will put Diablo 4 high on the list of the most successful Blizzard games.
Diablo 4 was released in June of last year, and it received widespread acclaim from both players and critics as a worthy sequel to Blizzard's iconic action RPG. If you haven't yet, be sure to check out our review, where we gave this fantastic game a quite high rating.
