Getting into secret areas of Baldur's Gate 3 is often well-rewarded and if you are poking around the Chamber of Justice, you are on the right path to grab some really good items.
That said, your stride probably hit a stop sign with the puzzle that may be a bit too obscure and doesn't offer too many clues.
After all, you only know that you need to balance things out and are presented with a shadowy figure in the middle of the room.
The answer to this riddle is to simply provide a good balance of justice. If you paid attention to the pictures on the wall, you will notice that the red-headed man's punishment was too severe since the judge was corrupt.
Conspicuously, the creature in the room is also a judge and as such, it needs to go. Banishing it through various means doesn't work here. Instead, you need to cast Remove Curse on the Judge. Even if you don't have the spell among your prepared ones, you can grab it if you have a cleric on your team since they can swap spells outside of combat without needing a long rest.
When you dispel the judge, you will see three paintings - one depicting a severe punishment, one depicting no punishment at all and one depicting a prisoner that is treated humanely. Pick up that last painting, called The Cell.
Now click on the Empty Niche pedestal opposite of the three paintings and insert The Cell there. Voila, the puzzle is complete and your trials can continue.
