One of the secrets from Baldur's Gate 3 is in Shar's Gauntlet will have ramifications for a companion's quest as well as provide a peaceful resolution for an encounter that you may run into later on.
Namely, if you follow a swarm of rats throughout the temple, you will eventually stumble upon a massive statue of Shar with a ton of bones and skulls at its base.
If you take the cragged rock way down, you will be attacked by rats, who seemingly come in endless numbers. This can overwhelm a party that doesn't have good AoE solutions but even in that case, you can fix it all with a single Cleric.
Considering that Shadowheart's personal quest is closely tied to Shar's temple, you are likely to have her on hand anyway so just put her in front of the rest of your party and activate Spirit Guardians. The rats will keep coming to attack your party and will instantly die as soon as they come near Shadowheart.
Just keep your team bunched up that way and the rats will eventually deplete the numbers all on their own. Keep in mind that the pink rats have a chance to put anything in their radius to sleep with the blast they release on death so you will want some sort of ranged spells or weapons on the remainder of your party. The rats will be easy pickings if you just keep chucking arrows from behind Shadowheart.
Upon the last rat's death, an annoyed Dark Justiciar will materialise and almost certainly attack you. Kill him and he will turn out to be the last one the Orthon demon was hunting in that place, giving you the option to forego a fight with him. Should you choose not to kill the demon, Astarion will throw a hissy fit because now he can't make a deal with Raphael, the cunning devil who obviously cheated the Orthon with a contract previously.
Not a mote of reason in that vampire's head.
