Encountering a mess of neural pathways may seem like a frighteningly complex puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 but it is not that bad.
To complete this puzzle, you will need to connect the four brain functions on both sides of the puzzle. The catch is that the pathways can't cross each other.
Considering the interlocked nature of the pathways, this could pose a problem in solving the puzzle.
Anyway, each of the brain functions is colour coded so you will know which paths to avoid once you've connected the first functions to the other end.
Keep each function's connection as far away from the other as possible to avoid tangling them up. If you can't find a way to do so, here are screenshots of the completed puzzle from several angles so you can get yours done easily.
After you complete the puzzle, you will be able to enter a new chamber which will hold a pickled brain. You can pick it up and insert it into a machine in the room you came from, which will allow you to talk to the brain through the severed elf head.
She will ask you to delete the brain in exchange for some knowledge that can be used against Illithids. You can pass an ability check to figure out why she wants to be deleted and you will get the same reward anyway.
