Gotta love the internet, especially when they counter Epic's pulling of Fortnite's recently introduced Playground limited time mode with some puntastic replies, such as "5 more minutes" and "but mom". Also, shopping carts are back.
Well, either Epic Games have suddenly gone down to PUBG Corp's level of amateurism, which is highly unlikely, or the relentless Fortnite hordes simply couldn't get enough of Playground LTM. It doesn't take a Fortnite rocket scientist to figure out it's the second, with Epic's reddit post revealing that "multiple teams" are working on bringing the Playground LTM back.
At the same time, Epic re-enabled the shopping carts again, hopefully boosting them to the hilarity levels we all know they're capable of. At the moment, the only hilarity involved seems to be the one where Ninja watched a poor, hapless sod sitting in a cart being insta-fragged. I'm still trying to figure out what he was hoping for just sitting there. Wind?
Anyway, the Playground LTM mode encountered trouble almost from the moment it landed, prompting Epic to try and fix it on the fly. Unfortunately, that didn't really work, instead causing some insanely long matchmaking times and whatnot, so the dev pulled it until it's fixed properly.
Puns followed of course, with users playing the "but mom" game. Apart from being just funny, it clearly shows that Epic Games are once again doing something right, having repeatedly demonstrated to their lawsuit-happy competitor PUBG that working on your game is the best way to ensure more money.
Nevertheless, it seems all that PUBG understood from Fortnite's business model is how to maximise profits by tacking on Fortnite's f2p tailored Battle Pass onto their game, causing all sorts of backlash from parts of their playerbase who don't like being swindled.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for any updates on Epic's and Fortnite's behalf, because we honestly can't wait to see whether the game's construction potential can outgrow its initial uses. With Fortnite looking at nerfs to shotguns, rockets and construction, Playground LTM may actually be Epic's gift to appease the masses.
