Epic Games have posted an update on Fortnite: Battle Royale's upcoming schedule, specifically the extension of Chapter 2 - Season 2 and the launch date of Season 3. For the latter, the dev is aiming for 4 June 2020.
"Hey all. We’re extending Chapter 2 - Season 2 of Fortnite beyond the original April 30 date. Our plan is to launch Chapter 2 - Season 3 on June 4", they wrote in a post on the official Epic Games website.
You may recall that Chapter 2 - Season 1 was also extended, but since its launch wasn't delayed - it remains the longest Fortnite season up to date.
Epic Games reminded that they've still got loads of content coming in the current season. This includes "multiple game updates on the way that will deliver fresh gameplay, new Challenges, bonus XP and a couple more surprises".
They also said they'll be providing timely updates on their website and social channels, if anything should disrupt those plans. Considering the ongoing health situation across the globe, it's probably wise to leave some leeway.
As for the features not coming in Fortnite: Chapter 2 - Season 3, we can already give you one that's almost certainly not coming - and that's patch notes.
Having noticed peculiar trends, where people get quite emotional looking at even the most minute of Fortnite changes, Epic decided to reduce them to highlights. They eventually ditched them altogether, and had it not been for crowd-sourced patch notes - it would be difficult keeping up with it.
If you've been following Fortnite and Epic on Twitter, you're well aware of just how polarised the masses can be in both their adoration and bona fide disdain. There are even some pro and anti-Epic trending wars going on, so we guess it's time for the next Fortnite killer, wink wink.
