Epic to nerf shotguns, rockets and building in Fortnite

It appears that Epic is a bit concerned about the current state of Fortnite's endgame, announcing more changes to the game. The company says that dependence on shotguns, rockets and uncapped building isn't what Fornite is all about.

The Fortnite team took to the official website to explain what's going on and it has much to do with tweaking late game strategies, or should we say strategY. Obviously, they're under no illusions that what their battle royale's current endgame is all about.

"We strongly believe that the evolution of Fortnite supports a wide range of play styles and counterplay", they said. Currently however, shotguns and rockets continue to dominate in the final stretch, when players are already stocked up for more intimate combat.

Epic also expressed concern over uncapped building, which although not particularly worrying for veterans, does somewhat deflate the experience of new players. Thanks to building, even the most skilful of FPS players can, and regularly do, get wrecked by players who've gotten used to Fortnite's building system.

This can be pretty frustrating at times, especially for players who've honed their mechanical skills in other shooters, only to be killed in what can seem the cheapest way possible. Yeah, as you can tell - I've been there and Epic said it well, "not every encounter should end in a build-off".

The dev insists they're trying to come up with a solution that would introduce multiple winning strategies in the final phase, although it's safe to say these changes will neither be immediate nor experimented with willy nilly. With that in mind, Epic already did some changes "and will continue to make more", including "changes to weapon balance and resource economy, like e.g. resource caps".

It will be interesting to see how Epic goes about this, because at the moment it seems like any other tactic is simply not viable without major changes. Of course, that's without considering that Fortnite hasn't come all this way by being PUBG - Epic Games actually know what they're doing.
