Obsidian Entertainment's first-person fantasy RPG Avowed which is coming exclusively to Xbox Series X/S and PC will be delayed into early 2025 according to a report from reliable Microsoft insider Tom Warren.
Avowed was planned to release in Autumn 2024 but Xbox feels the game would have a better chance to shine if they push it into a period that is less flooded with other AAA releases.
According to Warren, Avowed is in good shape and the delay is purely down to the busy Xbox Game Pass period later this year, which could hurt Avowed player count. Xbox Game Pass is absolutely stacked for the rest of the year with releases like Indiana Jones: The Great Circle, Stalker 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to name a few so it certainly makes sense to delay Avowed into 2025.
One of the games that made Xbox push Avowed into 2025 is Stalker 2, which recently also delayed its release date to November 2025, which was Avowed's rumoured release date. Avowed and Stalker 2 in November would certainly be a massive month for Xbox fans but in an ideal world, Microsoft probably wants players to play both of these, not choose between them.
And while Avowed delay will perhaps come as a disappointment to the fans who are eagerly awaiting this title, Microsoft confirmed that they will show new exclusive gameplay at Gamescom this month. We also expect new previews and interviews that will give us more exciting details about this highly anticipated RPG.
