UK-based developer Frontier Developments have confirmed a new collaboration with Disney, to develop and publish a game that will draw on Disney's wider portfolio of IP.
The game will be fully funded by Frontier themselves, and will lean on the studio's track record in the creative management simulation genre, the same space that's given them Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo and the Jurassic World Evolution series. Frontier also confirmed they have a separate, unannounced Planet game already in development, which will certainly be exciting news for all Planet series fans.
CEO Jo Cooke said the deal reinforces the studio's strategy of building and nurturing management sim franchises long-term, framing the goal as connecting Frontier's creative player community with one of the world's most recognisable brands.
“We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises.
Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world's most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”
No release date, platforms or specific Disney IP have been confirmed for this project.
