The iconic Driver franchise is coming back in the form of a live-action series, Ubisoft announced today. The series will stream exclusively on streaming platform Binge.

Driver is returning but not as a game, which every fan of this beloved series would prefer, but instead as a live-action series, which will stream officially on Binge.

"Driver is shifting gears and coming to your screens in the form of a live-action series. The action-adventure driving videogame franchise will be brought to life through a collaboration between Ubisoft and Binge, an upcoming streaming platform showcasing original series and shows created for gaming fans," Ubisoft announced via a press release.

In case you are not familiar with the franchise, and most of the younger gamers certainly are not, Driver, one of the first open-world driving action games, tells the story of John Tanner, an ex-racecar driver turned undercover agent whose mission is to take down the local crime syndicate.

Fans of the franchise have been hoping for many years that Ubisoft could make another Driver game in the near future but that never happened and probably won't happen anytime soon. However, it's interesting that Ubisoft are pushing the franchise to TV, which could suggest that they are testing the grounds for something bigger, and of more interest to gamers. We shall see.
