Ghost Recon: Wildlands is making an unexpected return. A PlayStation Store listing, since removed, accidentally revealed that a next-gen upgrade for the 2017 open-world tactical shooter is shadow dropping tomorrow, 6 August, ahead of Ubisoft's planned 25th anniversary event for the Ghost Recon franchise. The listing was spotted by Reddit user ImmortalGhostYT before it was pulled.
According to the listing, the upgrade brings 60fps performance, 4K graphics, adaptive trigger support on PS5, and a range of quality-of-life updates alongside new cosmetics. Faster load times and 3D audio are also reportedly included, though those features were not listed in the PS Store description itself. Players who own a digital PS4 copy of Wildlands will receive the PS5 version at no extra cost, while those with a physical PS4 disc will need to have the disc inserted to access the PS5 download. A free play period runs from 6 to 10 August, giving anyone without the game a window to try the upgraded version at no cost.
The most notable addition is a brand new free story mission called Last Rites, included for all players alongside the upgrade. Ubisoft had already flagged that a Ghost Recon: Wildlands Definitive Edition was in development for current-gen hardware, and the anniversary event scheduled for tomorrow at 6 August was widely anticipated as the official reveal moment. The PS Store listing simply got there first. Ubisoft has not officially confirmed any of these details at the time of writing, but given the listing went live on PlayStation's own storefront, it is as close to confirmed as an unannounced game can get.
