Sons of the Forest is an upcoming open-world survival game from developer Endnight Games . It's a sequel to the beloved The Forest from 2018, which is considered as one of the best, if not the best crafting/survival titles out there.
With the sequel, the dev team aim to expand on everything that made the original so good and if you're excited about this one, here is everything we know so far about Sons of the Forest, including its release date, trailers, story and more.
Release Date and Price
The game has been moved around throughout the year and its original release date was supposed to be May 2022 but that date was quickly scrapped due to Endnight Games not quite happy with the way their game was looking.
The second release date was supposed to be October 2022 but, again, Endnight Games developers have reached out to the community to share that they will not be releasing the game until 2023 due to the scope and size of the game.
Now, the latest release date that was given to the community is February 23, 2023, and the game will have a price tag of $29.99. If the game matches the expectations that the Forest has set, that price tag is more than reasonable and will definitely be worth every penny.
Storyline and Location
The location in question is a cannibal-infested hellscape and this time the character will be there with a purpose, to track down and rescue a missing billionaire.
The location itself will be a better version of the original island (mainly graphically) with a few unfamiliar faces roaming the forest.

Many speculate that the character that the players will be playing throughout the game is little Timmy from the Forest and he is in search of his father since the last game did end with Timmy's father publishing a book and becoming famous for it.
Gameplay
Now, the players are expected to craft, build, and struggle to survive, either in single-player or multiplayer. They will be able to experience the complete freedom to tackle the world however they wish.
The game does not follow the standard storytelling formula where the player is told where to go or what to do but instead can simply explore for as long as they want and find the bits to their story as they go.

Just like in the Forest, there is no safe zone and there are mutated creatures, some who are almost human-like, and others who are like nothing you have ever seen before lurking everywhere you go.
Don't worry, to make the game fair, the developers have armed you with pistols, axes, stun batons and more so you can protect yourself and those you care for.
The most fun part of the game is of course the building and crafting. The players can make whatever their heart desires with the tools and materials they collect.
One exciting feature that Sons of the Forest will introduce is the change of the seasons between Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Now, the players will have to keep in mind potential food shortages during the harsh winter days and stock up on meat (and store it properly) during the spring and summer days.
