Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will be getting an expansion story add-on. Director Koshi Nakanishi commented that the studio was working on DLC following launch.
This confirms rumours that had surfaced that Resident Evil‘s newest installment would get a story expansion. Nakanishi went on to state that the DLC will “expand further into the world of Requiem”, but didn’t provide more specifics as to what the story and new characters might entail.
Capcom also confirmed that there will be free updates before the DLC.
Story Expansion in Development
Nakanishi said during the presentation that the development team is working on an expansion story pack and requested players’ patience while they continue working on it.
It is thought this DLC will flesh out both the setting and story found within Resident Evil Requiem, though Capcom hasn’t detailed what setting it takes place in, when it takes place, or who players will control.
Leaks and fan speculation hint that the DLC will follow protagonist Leon S. Kennedy instead of Alyssa Ashcroft as many had assumed. This has yet to be confirmed by Capcom.
Free Updates Coming Before the DLC
Although the story expansion may be a while away, Capcom plans on releasing a few free updates before then.
What’s been revealed so far:
- Photo Mode – Enables players to take in-game photos while playing
- Mini-game – Details about what this mode includes have yet to be revealed.
Some fans are hoping this means a return of The Mercenaries mode featured in multiple Resident Evil games.
