Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem isn’t slowing down after its showcase debut at State of Play, with further information about when it will go pre-load and how big it will be emerging.
Sharing backend information provided by Capcom, PlayStation Game Size reports that Resident Evil Requiem will take up 72.88 GB of space on PS5. Were this to hold true at launch, Resident Evil Requiem would take the crown as the biggest file size for a mainline Resident Evil game to date.
For context, Resident Evil 4 Remake is currently sitting at roughly 67 GB on PS5, while Resident Evil 2 Remake takes up around 48 GB. No global release window has been confirmed by Capcom yet, but players won’t have to wait too much longer to get their downloads ready.
Pre-Load Date and Release Timing
Owners of the Standard Edition of Resident Evil Requiem should be able to pre-load the game from 25 February, with it becoming unlocked at midnight on 27 February.
Release times for other regions have not been leaked, but Capcom hasn’t provided a global timetable yet either - those are usually released closer to launch. As a final tip for those looking to play Resident Evil Requiem on launch day, make sure you’ve got the storage space! At a hefty 72.88 GB, it’s one of the biggest recent survival horror titles.
Is Resident Evil Requiem the Biggest Entry Yet?
If true, Resident Evil Requiem is set to require more storage than any previous game in the series. Larger games can often mean larger levels to explore, higher quality textures, and more detailed cutscenes - but Capcom hasn’t confirmed any of this.
It’s not just the file size that has people excited for Resident Evil Requiem. According to one report, it’s currently one of the most wanted future releases on Steam - behind Subnautica 2 and Forza Horizon 6.
Resident Evil Requiem will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
