It seems that nothing can stop Palword from breaking the all-time player peak record on Steam. This global phenomenon from Pocket Pair has not reached over 1.8 million concurrent players on Valve's storefront, overtaking even the multiplayer shooter Counter-Strike 2, which firmly held second place on the list.
The only game that stands between Palword and the number one spot on the list is the shooter that started the battle-royale craze - PUBG: Battlegrounds, which peaked at over 3.2 million players back in January 2018.
It's going to take something really special to garner another 1.5 million players and beat PUBG but Palworld certainly has the momentum and we expect to see more record-breaking numbers from the game over the weekend.
These staggering numbers mean that Palworld had a better launch than big blockbuster hits like Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring, to name a few.
But it's not all joy and cheer for the developers of Palword, despite such a successful launch. Many Pocket Pair team members have been receiving death threats for reportedly copying the creature design from Pokemon.
Furthermore, the team have been accused of using AI art to generate creatures but Pocket Pair have strongly rejected these accusations and stated how proud they are of their art team for creating the creatures in Palworld.
In case you are not quite familiar with Palworld, it's a creature-collecting title akin to Pokemon with survival elements. Basically, think of it as an Ark clone.
Palword launched four days ago in early access and has sold over six million copies so far but it's safe to say that the number of players is much higher since Palword also launched on Xbox Game Pass for PC and console.
