Palworld isn’t just about surviving and catching creatures, as Pocketpair has just officially announced a brand-new Palworld card game, coming 30 July, 2026. Continuing to build on the massive success of the original game, the new Palworld card game will take the mix of combat, resource management, and monster battles and put it all into a competitive card game.
The official announcement was made alongside the first official trailer for the game, which gives fans an early look into what to expect from the Palworld card game when it releases later this year.
It seems that Pocketpair is following in Nintendo and Pokemon’s footsteps in the making of the card game, which will allow Palworld to continue growing past just a video game and become a fully fledged franchise.
Palworld card game details
Described as a competitive 2-player strategy game, the Palworld card game is not like your typical creature-based card game, with Pocketpair explaining that more than just powerful cards will win the day.
In each match, players will be taking command of their Pals in combat, all while having to gather resources, build bases, and make tactical decisions throughout the match.
It’s this combination that will no doubt give the Palworld card game the essence of the Palworld experience, mixing in the combat, survival mechanics, and strategy of the base game into a more defined competitive format.
From what is shown in the trailer, players can expect to see beautifully drawn cards, featuring the usual assortment of fan-favourites, along with some gameplay which looks to have plenty of tactical nuance.
While the finer ruleset of the game have yet to be shown in detail, the early impression of the matches shown in the trailer look to involve a lot of managing aggression, defence, and smart resource use to defeat opponents.
Release date
It now has a set release date, with the Palworld card game now set to release 30 July, 2026, so fans of the series have a lot of time to anticipate the first round of battles when the game drops.
More information about the card sets, possible competitive formats, and regional availability are sure to drop as we near the release date, but the huge popularity of Palworld should make for an exciting new milestone for Pocketpair and the game.
