New World has a terribly high amount of gear sets that need to be used on regular basis and switching them around is a tax on the players' time and sanity.
Amazon Game Studios previously announced they would add loadout slots that would help with this issue which caused a lot of positive feedback, which turned sour after the latest Forged in Aeternum episode.
The community Q&A answered a bunch of interesting questions but the burning one was about the gear sets, or loadout slots' price and how many the players can hope to get at no cost.
As it turns out, there is a grand total of three sets that anyone can acquire at no monetary cost, with two arriving by default and one that is tied to the free battle pass track. In other words, you have to grind for it.
If you want more than three loadout slots, you will have to purchase them at the price of $5 a pop, which is far from ideal.
Technically, $5 doesn't sound like a big chunk of money but realistically, this is a quality-of-life fix that shouldn't cost anything. It is a solution to a problem the devs created and they are now charging people for it.
It seems like openly racketeering players is becoming a trend in live service video games and it remains to be seen how long the gamers will tolerate the problem before it comes to a boil.
