Despite Bungie claiming the drop rates are better now, it is still not advised to farm Exotics in Lost Sectors.

Legend and Master Lost Sectors are some of the most tedious content in Destiny 2 because farming them for Exotics means having to go in solo and suffer bullet sponges all the way through.

One would assume such a burden would result in rewards that would make the poorly spent time somewhat worth it but Bungie had different designs, which meant terrible Exotic drop rates in the activities.

Recently, they announced they would improve the drop rates and when the patch went through, the sad reality set in - the increase was barely noticeable.

A clan that kept track of their drops noted that the average drop rate was previously around 25 per cent, meaning one Exotic per four runs. With the drop rate increase the drop rate went to a staggering number of 27 per cent.

In other words, it is still one drop per four runs but you get one bonus Exotic every 50 runs.

Rerunning Lost Sectors or listening to Nimbus on repeat? Pick your torture

We would highly recommend you expose yourself to the psychological torture that is running Master and Legend Lost Sectors so many times because repeating mind-numbingly boring activities for such meagre rewards is not worth your time in almost any circumstances.

The only saving grace Lost Sectors have is that they will always drop the Exotic from the category that is noted when you click on the node and it will always first drop the Exotic you haven't unlocked yet.

Therefore, the only viable purpose of the Lost Sectors is to farm until you acquire the Exotics you don't have in your collections. As soon as you loot that, hop into Nightfalls, which are group activities and are often more dynamic than the bullet sponge simulators that are Master and Legend Lost Sectors.

Exotic drops are far more reliable in these activities and there are reports that the Lost Sector ones seldom drop with a stat total of over 64. Once again, Nightfalls are the better and more recommended choice.
