Meanwhile, the open beta of Monster Hunter Wilds draws a huge amount of interest, peaking at more than 465,000 concurrent players across Steam alone, beating Capcom's previous records for Monster Hunter World with 334,684 players and Monster Hunter Rise with 231,360 players.
This open beta will be available to anyone, until November 3rd at 6:59 PM PT, and will let players pit their skills against both Doshaguma and Chatacabra in a special quest featuring Rey Dau, a new Thunder-based Flying Wyvern.
Slated to fully release on February 28th, 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds drops players into the Forbidden Lands, where, as members of the Research Commission, they will venture into the uncharted territory in search of the missing expedition team.
New for the series is inclusion of real-time weather changes that will alter the in-game biomes and could affect how hunts and strategies are approached.
Meanwhile, the new release of BioWare's popular PC RPG series, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, has started flying on Steam, peaking at more than 70,000 concurrent players on launch day.
These figures put it ahead of several big names, such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Tales of Arise, and even Diablo 4.
This also makes The Veilguard BioWare's best Steam launch yet, beating Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on concurrent player numbers while simultaneously setting a new record high for EA's single-player games.
Strong launch day figures for both games would suggest that these titles will continue to pull in players over the coming days.
