Dragon Age The Veilguard is 40 per cent off on Xbox, just two months after launch

Bioware have slashed the price of their latest fantasy RPG Dragon Age The Veilguard to $41.99 on the Xbox Series X|S consoles. The Veilguard's Xbox store page states that the sale will run for the next 16 days, allowing you to save $28.00 if you purchase the game before the new year.

Both the game's Standard and Deluxe Editions are on a discount so you can get the initially pricier Deluxe version for $53.99 which is less than the full price of the Standard Version.

Dragon Age The Veilguard also has a discount on Steam where you can save 35 per cent on Standard and Deluxe Edition. The only platform where the discount does not apply to all users is PlayStation 5. You need to have a PlayStation Plus subscription to be eligible for 40 per cent off the full price, which is still fine given that most PlayStation 5 players are subscribed to PlayStation Plus.

Such a major discount only two months after release is certainly telling. It doesn't look like Dragon Age The Veilguard is selling as much as Bioware and EA have anticipated, hence the massive price cut. 

Dragon Age The Veilguard received generally positive reviews from the press, reaching the score of 80 out of 100 on OpenCritic. However, the game received heavy criticism from some players who argued that The Veilguard was not a Dragon Age game and that Bioware played it too safely with this one.

A review from my colleague Asmir is mostly positive with a lot of praise for the story, visuals and well-designed levels but also criticism for lackluster writing.

While Dragon Age The Veilguard didn't set the world on fire, it's still a fun game, especially for those who are new to the Dragon Age franchise. For the hardcore fans, there's very little to be excited about here.
