Monster Hunter Wilds: New Ecosystem, Monsters, and Open Beta announced

Capcom announced two major updates for Monster Hunter Wilds during their showcase in October. The Oilwell Basin, a brand-new ecosystem filled with untamed monsters and a village of skilled craftsmen, was showcased.

At their showcase in October, Capcom made two major announcements regarding Monster Hunter Wilds: a brand-new trailer and the announcement of an Open Beta Test.

For the very first time, players are taken deep into the hazardous Oilwell Basin-a completely new ecosystem filled with untamed monsters and a village of skilled craftsmen in Azuz. It also showed a glimpse of the ominous "Black Flame," some sort of mystical creature lurking deep in the region.

The Open Beta Test will take place from November 1 to November 4 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, with cross-play enabled. Early access for PlayStation Plus subscribers will begin on October 29.

All beta testers will receive an exclusive pendant and an item pack, which they can use when the game launches.

The Oilwell Basin is a place full of hustle and bustle in which the environment is hazardous. Firespring creates bursts of flame in an instant, further making this area hazardous.

New monsters have been revealed: Rompopolo, a Brute Wyvern that uses toxic gas to trap its prey, and Ajarakan, a Fanged Beast that covers itself in sweltering armor. Deep inside, while the monsters fight to check in for survival, Black Flame watches.

The Open Beta will let players get their bearings with three main parts of the game: character creation, which will carry over to the full game; a Story Trial that will introduce the basics; and the Doshaguma Hunt, where players will be able to hunt a Doshaguma Alpha solo or in multiplayer with up to four players.

Monster Hunter Wilds officially releases on February 28, 2025.
