Activision and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 developers have announced the dates for the game’s first beta.
Players will finally get their first extended look at Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s multiplayer before it launches late next year, with the first beta starting shortly after this August’s Call of Duty: NEXT showcase.
Call of Duty: NEXT will take place on August 21 and give players more insight into live gameplay, multiplayer, and everything else players can expect from Modern Warfare 4.
After the reveal, players who preorder Modern Warfare 4 will have access to the first beta weekend. Players who preorder Modern Warfare 4 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, or PC will be able to participate in the first week of beta testing from August 21 - 25.
This first early access beta weekend will let players get an early taste of what’s to come in Modern Warfare 4 before the rest of gamers get their chance to download it.
The second beta weekend will be open to all players, even those who don’t preorder Modern Warfare 4. The open beta weekend will be held from August 28- September 1, 2026.
Platforms for the beta include Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Maps, modes, operators, and weapons have not been detailed yet, but players can expect a few multiplayer maps to appear during the beta. Players will have access to 19 weapons during the beta, along with a mix of returning and new gameplay.
There will be a Search & Destroy mode, Kill Block, and Training Mobility Course as well as large-scale vehicle combat with tanks and small 3v3 team battles.We’ll likely learn more about what multiplayer content is in store for Modern Warfare 4 at Call of Duty: NEXT.
