Activision and Infinity Ward have officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 , the next installment in the popular first-person shooter series. The game releases October 23 and features Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ returning with another Modern Warfare story focused around Captain Price and a war that spans the globe.
Modern Warfare 4‘s Campaign tackles two perspectives within a war set across the Korean Peninsula. Players take control of Private Park, a young soldier fighting for South Korea as it becomes invaded by the North.
Additionally, fans will get to reteam with Captain Price, who’ll be fighting as an outlaw outside of the military establishment. Campaign will send players into trench warfare in Korea, a shootout in New York City, high-speed chases in Paris, and SAS night raids in Mumbai.
Narrative details have not been revealed, but Activision promises a campaign that mixes blockbuster style missions with boots-on-the-ground military style warfare on grand scales and in clandestine operations.
Multiplayer opens with 12 core 6v6 maps, dedicated Gunfight arenas, and Big War maps that emphasize infantry and vehicle combat on larger scales. A brand-new addition to Multiplayer is Kill Block, a game mode that takes place inside of a live-fire training facility with the map’s layout shifting after each round.Ballistic Authority is Modern Warfare 4′s new combat technology feature.
According to Infinity Ward, this new system enhances aiming accuracy, weapon handling, audio cues, visibility, and bullet physics to remove randomness from gunfights and make engagements feel more realistic.DMZ returns as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4′s extraction mode.
Into the breach solo players or squads can parachute into combat zones filled with enemy AI, moving objectives, dynamic weather, and high-tech military equipment to loot.
Infinity Ward promises the zones will contain unpredictable enemy encounters and fluctuating elements to help each deployment feel fresh.Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 are live now. Owners of previous Modern Warfare games are eligible for a 10% discount on the Vault Edition.
