Since its inception in 2009, League of Legends has been synonymous with iconic champions, and each year Riot introduces new characters that bring unique gameplay and diversity to the game.
In the previous year, although the quantity of new champions was modest, their uniqueness stood out. Milio, an enchanter support from Ixtal, kicked off the year, quickly establishing himself as a balanced character despite receiving a prompt nerf.
Following suit was Naafiri, the first Darkin champion in years, who, like Milio, navigated the meta without causing significant disruption. Briar, brought a new challenge to the table. Despite facing consistent nerfs, Briar remains a top-tier champion in the meta. Hwei, a character with a complex kit, closed out the roster, currently holding the title of the lowest win rate in the game.
Anticipating the upcoming season, Riot had teased several champions in a roadmap blog, including one featuring a small dragon.
As Season 14 approaches, Riot has officially introduced Smolder, the dragon ADC.
League of Legends: Smolder
- Appearance: Smolder, the dragon ADC, is characterized by a small size and the ability to breathe fire. Design-wise, he shares similarities with Gnar, adding a unique touch to the game's diverse roster.
- Lore: Hailing from royalty, Smolder references Camavore in his trailer, though Camavore's current lore indicates a collapse. The narrative surrounding Smolder is shrouded in mystery, leaving players intrigued about Riot's creative direction.
- Gameplay: Specifics about Smolder's gameplay remain undisclosed, heightening the anticipation among players. The last ADC introduced, Zeri, brought exceptional uniqueness to the game, setting a high bar for Smolder.
Release Date: Smolder is slated for release in Patch 14.2, scheduled to debut on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
