Hwei, originally known as the "Ink Mage," hails from Ionia and possesses a unique artistic ability to bring his paintings to life. Designed for the Mid-Lane role, Hwei follows in the footsteps of the previous champion, Naafiri, becoming the second Mid-Laner introduced in the same year.

However, a well-known leaker, Big Bad Bear, has provided some insights into Hwei's character and background. It is suggested that Hwei may have a connection to the Primordial Demons, a theme similar to Nilah, the Demon of Joy. His quest for artistic inspiration or a Muse implies that one of the Primordial demons could serve as his creative source.
Additionally, visual depictions of Hwei have surfaced through commissioned artwork. According to Big Bad Bear, Hwei appears to be a youthful character, likely in his 20s. His distinctive weapon is a giant paintbrush, and he sports distinctive green hair.
Fans excitedly await Hwei's release, with expectations that he may appear on the PBE servers in the forthcoming Patch 13.24 or thereabouts.
