South Korean publisher Krafton have announced that they have started active development on their brand new project, based on The Bird That Drinks Tears fantasy novel.

PUBG and The Callisto Protocol publisher Krafton have officially shared new details on their next project, which is an untitled fantasy game codenamed Project Windless, based on the popular Korean fantasy novel, The Bird That Drinks Tears.

Krafton did not say what kind of game this will be but judging by the new concept art, we think a third-person action/adventure RPG would be a safe bet.

"This ambitious project aims to bring the original fantasy universe of The Bird That Drinks Tears to life through its unique and refreshing fantasy races, beautiful, haunting landscapes, and gripping, immersive, and poignant stories," Krafton say on the game's official website.

To visualise the game, Krafton hired concept artist Ian McCaig, who previously worked on Star Wars, The Avengers, Harry Potter and Terminator franchises.

Krafton say McCaig's work will serve as a visual direction for the project so expect very realistic visuals rather than something stylistic.

The new concept art that Krafton shared features key novel characters, environments and four distinct races Human, Rekkon, Tokebi and Nhaga.

The characters can also be seen carrying various melee weapons like spears and swords. Previous art showed the team taking down all sorts of monstrosities that look like something that just jumped out of Bloodborne.

Krafton announced their new fantasy project almost a year ago and have been pretty quiet since then but it looks like the studio could be sharing more in the near future now that the development is ramping up. Perhaps we even get to see the game very soon.

Concept Artist Ian McCaig previously said a couple of exciting things about Project Windless, calling it "as creative and unlimited" as CD Projekt Red's The Witcher franchise.

The team are setting the bar pretty high we would say but how else can they achieve greatness and make something truly memorable? Best of luck on your journey, Krafton.
