A highly-anticipated stealth action title from IO Interactive, Hitman 3, won't be coming to Steam on launch due to a freshly announced Epic Games Store exclusivity deal. The PC version of the game launches on the Epic Games Store in January 2021 and will arrive to Steam a year later. This means that Hitman 3 won't be available on Steam until 2022.
The game will also launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and Google Stadia in January 2021.
IO boss Hakan Abrak explained the decision to team up with Epic Games by saying that the new partnership gives the team additional freedom to make the game as they imagined it initially for their fans and community. He added that those who supported the studio during their World of Assassination journey will get their mastery and location carry over to Hitman 3 on the Epic Games Store.
"This partnership with Epic has given us the freedom to create the game exactly as we imagined, for our fans and for our community uncompromised," he said. "For our long-term fans that have supported us on the World of Assassination journey, we're happy to have mastery and location carryover from their existing progress into Hitman 3 on Epic Games Store."
