ArenaNet announced they would release Guild Wars 2 on Steam a while back but after a delay, no one really knew when the game would arrive, until now.

Guild Wars 2 is launching on Steam on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. This will be the first time the MMO made it to Valve's platform where the original trilogy was already up for sale.

The Steam release coincides with the 10th-anniversary celebrations, meaning the new players are likely in for some freebies and some goods that are hidden for the time being.

ArenaNet technically didn't announce that much special content for the anniversary but it is quite the milestone for the MMO so the veterans are still hoping something special is coming along.

Potential new players should be aware of one caveat, especially if they end up liking the game while adventuring in the free-to-play portion - not all story content is included even if you buy all the expansions.

Guild Wars 2 has Living World episodes that bridge the narrative gap between expansions and these are paid with the premium currency that can either be purchased with real-life currency or one can grind it at a snail's pace.

This was one of the main concerns for veteran players whenever Steam release was mentioned. It appears the devs and publishers heard them and they will be offering the Guild Wars 2 Complete Collection on Steam, which will be priced at $98.97, just under $100.

Besides the Steam release, GW2 will start featuring Twitch drops on the same day, where players will be able to obtain outfits, experience boosters and other in-game items by watching partnered streams.
