Guild Wars 2 launched Secrets of the Obscure on August 22, 2023, and slightly over two months later, the game is getting the first free content update that continues the story and adds more things for players to do.
Through the Veil is set to release on November 7, 2023, and it will be free for the players who purchased the expansion. The update brings a new map, activities and encounters in Nayos, the Realm of Demons.
Additionally, Wizard's Vault is getting new rewards like three unique armour pieces, a new infusion and more. The rewards from the first season will go to the Legacy Rewards tab where all that content will remain available.
As for the Inner Nayos map, there will be a new mastery track that will focus on the new encounter type, called Convergences. These rifts will be the next step in the rift-hunting activities, aiming at large scale battles where a pile of players takes on the more challenging Kryptis enemies.
There will be new relics to further customise your build, which should help in the demonic realm but those who are looking for a different challenge can go for the Challenge Mode for the Cosmic Observatory strike mission.
ArenaNet noted they will continue to release content updates without additional charge for the expansion owners into 2024. One of the hotly-anticipated features, expanded weapon proficiencies, will have a demo test period soon so the devs can gather feedback from the players.
The beta event will run from November 28 to December 3, 2023.
