The developers at Ubisoft aim to make the Recruit Operator viable in serious matches without being a meme in Rainbow Six: Siege. To manage this, they've made the remastered Recruits available in all playlists, limiting each team to one Recruit, with fully customizable loadouts and updated 3D models.
Recruits now have access to all secondary utilities from their faction in both slots but can't use the same gadget in both slots. This change allows for more strategic flexibility, with the goal of keeping specialized Operators as the most efficient choices. Recruits are unlocked for free at level 0, making them excellent for learning Siege's mechanics.
All Upcoming Operator Changes in Y9S2
All updates to Striker
Striker really shines as a flexible support on the offensive. You can aid Thermite by using Impact EMP Grenades to breach walls and employing Hard Breach Charges for other hatches. Alternatively, you can defend your teammates by setting up Claymores to cover flanks and using Smoke Grenades to manage sightlines. Or, you can even take on the entry role with Frag Grenades and Stun Grenades while your team handles the heavy lifting.
BASE STATS
- Armour: Two
- Speed: Two
GADGET KIT (ABILITY)
- Carries two gadgets instead of one gadget and one ability. You can choose any attacking gadget on the team, but not the same one twice.
LOADOUT
- Primary weapons: M4, M249
- Secondary weapons: 5.7 USG, ITA12S
All updates to Sentry
Sentry acts as the defensive equivalent to Striker. Their main role is to help with site setup and provide any needed utility. If you need extra intelligence, consider using a Bulletproof Camera and Proximity Alarms. For better map control, a Deployable Shield and Barbed Wire would be ideal.

All updates to Fenrir
Fenrir's effectiveness now depends on strategic mine deployment and size rather than bulletproof durability. Hidden and well-placed mines will be more effective and last longer. The Observation Blocker helps keep Fenrir's location hidden but reduces his crowd control by replacing Barbed Wire.
His utility relies on his survival, encouraging calculated risks and active gadget use. The new ticket system and resource adjustments require constant attention, and Fenrir must react to attackers' pushes to be effective. This change also lowers the entry barrier for new players by making placement errors less punishable.
F-NATT DREAD MINE
- Max. resources (Mines) reduced to 4 from 5.
- Max. resources (Tickets) reduced to 2 from 3.
- Inactive mines are no longer bulletproof.
- Tickets are no longer lost when an active mine is destroyed; they return to Fenrir's inventory.
- Disabling a mine automatically removes its ticket, which returns to Fenrir's inventory.
LOADOUT
- Secondary gadgets: Observation Blocker added, Barbed Wire removed.
All updates to Solis
The developers want to maintain Solis' relevance while giving attackers more opportunities for droning. Adjustments to SPEC-IO resources encourage shorter bursts of usage. Solis' roaming capabilities will be slightly reduced by decreasing her speed and replacing Impact Grenades with Proximity Alarms.
Players are encouraged to explore less-used weapons like the Shotgun ITA12L. Further enhancements to Solis' gadget detection and scanning mechanics are in development.
SPEC-IO ELECTRO-SENSOR
- SPEC-IO goggles stay disabled during prep-phase.
- SPEC-IO energy duration reduced to 10s from 20s.
- SPEC-IO needs full recharge before reuse.
- SPEC-IO detection range reduced to 12 m from 15 m.
LOADOUT
- Secondary gadgets: Proximity Alarm added, Impact Grenades removed.
All updates to Deimos
Ever since Deimos was introduced, he's seen lower pick and win rates, primarily due to his advanced playstyle. To make him more accessible, we're considering adding grip options to his AK-74M. This tweak aims to enhance the weapon's viability for his aggressive support style. However, we'll keep a close eye on this adjustment to ensure the focus remains on leveraging his DeathMARKs and Vendetta abilities to their fullest potential.
LOADOUT
- AK-74: Vertical, Angled, and Horizontal grips added.
The developers also added that Defenders should now depend on their sense of hearing to detect Attackers moving through the wire. The operator's vocal response upon taking damage emphasizes the urgency of the situation and enhances reliability. This feedback loop ensures Defenders can react swiftly.
