Epic's latest update to Fortnite: Battle Royale is v10.40.1 and the naming scheme suggests it was more of a reactionary update than a planned one. Indeed, the dev pointed at the Zone Wars playlist The Combine and matchmaking issues.
"The Zone Wars playlist has been temporarily disabled while we investigate matchmaking issues with We'll provide a status update once we have more information", they said in yesterday's tweet, but the issues have apparently been resolved in the meantime.
Not the ones to skimp out on content, Epic used the opportunity to officially start Out of Time Overtime Mission, which has users completing objectives to win XP, cosmetics and Loading Screen end-of-season rewards.
"Season X's Overtime Mission is coming soon! The Out of Time Mission will be available from Tuesday, October 8 at 9 AM ET until Sunday, October 13 at 2 PM ET", they said.
Additionally, Epic revealed that Fortnite's Season X has got a one-week extension, which also means that Gotham City and the Batman Caped Crusader Pack will be available in the store until the Season ends.
Fortnite has compacted Zones War Desert, Vortex, Colosseum and Downhill River LTMs into two LTM playlists, so queueing up into either will let you play one of the four one War maps randomly. You can queue solo or in a party.
Epic the Flint-Knock Pistol too, but the changes that forced the update seem to be reserved for Nintendo Switch users. Namely, a level streaming issue resulted in a number of players landing in low-detail environments on the console, the solution for which indirectly caused a larger download on Nintendo's little guy.
The cosmetic material's performance has been improved so as to mitigate any hitches it might cause, so hopefully, this update does the trick without needing take two.
Fortnite v10.40.1 improved the game's social search bar functionality, which should make it easier to find friends, and fixed the incorrectly displayed microphones that suggested users are chatting despite not being in the channel.
